SUMMARY:BOOK LAUNCH:  THE GROUP OF SEVEN REIMAGINED
DESCRIPTION:BOOK LAUNCH:  THE GROUP OF SEVEN REIMAGINED\n\nBeeaverbrook Art Gallery, 703 Queen Street, Fredericton\nThursday, December 5, 7:00 pm-8:00 pm\n\nAs 2020 is the 100th anniversary of the founding of Canada’s iconic Group of Seven, the Beaverbrook Art Gallery is pleased to present dramatic readings from a beautiful new book that activates the art through short stories. Each painting is accompanied by a short narrative—or “flash fiction” piece—written by critically acclaimed, award-winning Canadian authors. Rather than analyze or interpret the art, these literary masters look deep inside each painting, crafting new layers of plot, setting, and emotion that feel at once entirely fresh and completely at home alongside these early-20th Century works.\n\nThe event will feature Fredericton author and UNB English professor Mark Jarman, who has the first text in the book. Mark will be reading his short piece, followed by readings by other notable Frederictonians, including Kate Rogers, Ilkay Silk, and John Leroux. The readings will be accompanied by special displays of Group of Seven works from the Beaverbrook’s collection. Books will be available for purchase at the event.\n
